Did you know that cancer is the second leading cause of death in children, behind accidents?
Did you know that one in every two high schools in Georgia has a child battling cancer or a childhood cancer survivor among their student body?
Did you know that the incidence of childhood cancer is on the rise, averaging a half percent increase per year since mid 1970’s resulting in an overall increase of 24% over the last 40 years?
Did you know that more than 40,000 children undergo cancer treatment each year?
CURE Childhood Cancer is an organization dedicated to conquering childhood cancer through funding targeted research as well as supporting patients and their families.
Founded in 1975 by one of the first pediatric oncologists to come to Emory, CURE seeks to drive research to find better, less toxic treatments and cures for cancers which affect children.
Less than four percent of the federal cancer research budget is allocated to solving cancers which affect children – so organizations like CURE are critical to stand in the funding gap and keep research advancing. CURE invests more than $2.5 million annually in research aimed at solving cancers which affect children.
CURE also provides critical support to patients and their families, such as outreach at the time of diagnosis, financial assistance, transportation assistance, meals during long hospitalizations, counseling for the entire family, bereavement support and much more.

CURE Childhood Cancer is playing a pivotal role in eradicating childhood cancer, and that is a cause we can all get behind.
President Sheila Brower's goal for 2017 is to raise at least $25,000 for CURE Childhood Cancer.
Currently GAR has more than 33,000 members across Georgia, so if every Georgia Realtor gives just one dollar to this cause, we will far surpass her goal of $25,000.
