Senate Bill 68, GAR’s Top Legislative Priority, Has Been Signed by Governor Kemp
ATLANTA [APRIL 22, 2025] – The Georgia REALTORS® (GAR), the largest and leading professional association for real estate agents in the state, today commended Governor Brian Kemp for signing Senate Bill 68 into law — a significant achievement in the effort to bring clarity and balance to Georgia’s civil justice system.
“Governor Kemp’s leadership on tort reform demonstrates his commitment to ensuring a fair and balanced legal system in Georgia,” said Stephen P. Walker, 2025 President of GAR. “This new law will help create a better business environment across the state.”
Brad Mock, CEO of GAR, added, “The signing of this legislation marks a crucial step toward restoring fairness in Georgia’s legal system. This reform provides much-needed legal clarity by ensuring businesses are responsible for what they can control. Georgia REALTORS® stand firmly behind these efforts to create a more stable and prosperous real estate market.”
For years, Georgia’s civil liability laws have created uncertainty for business owners and professionals. SB 68 addresses longstanding concerns by clarifying how liability is assigned, reducing unnecessary legal exposure, and enhancing confidence in Georgia’s legal climate.
Nakia Brooks, Vice President of Governmental Affairs for GAR, emphasized, “This reform is a game changer for Georgia professionals and entrepreneurs. By ensuring liability is placed where it rightfully belongs, we are reducing unnecessary legal exposure and creating a more predictable and fair legal system. These changes will help ensure that Georgia remains an attractive place for investment and homeownership.”
Georgia REALTORS® will continue to work alongside state leadership and industry stakeholders to support policies that promote economic growth, protect property rights, and ensure a fair legal landscape for all Georgians.
