Technical College Scholarship
The GAR Technical College Scholarship provides financial assistance to students enrolled in Georgia technical college programs that develop skills essential to the real estate, property management, land development, and building trades industries, in furtherance of the Foundation’s charitable and educational mission. Eligible courses include construction and building trades, land development and site work, and home and property systems. Eligibility Requirements
An applicant must satisfy all of the following eligibility requirements:
- The applicant must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited Georgia technical college.
- The applicant must be enrolled in a program that is approved by the Board of Directors and that is directly related to real estate, property management, land development, or the building trades.
- Eligible program areas may include, without limitation, the following:
- Real estate and property services, including property management, leasing, building inspection, and appraisal support;
- Construction and building trades, including carpentry, masonry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, welding, roofing, building maintenance, and construction management;
- Land development and site work, including surveying technology, civil engineering technology, drafting and design (CAD), environmental technology related to land use, and heavy-equipment operation tied to site preparation or utilities; and
- Home and property systems, including energy systems, solar or photovoltaic technology, low-voltage or smart-home systems, appliance repair, and landscape and turf management related to property maintenance.
Excluded programs include fields not directly connected to real estate or building systems, including, without limitation, healthcare, automotive, culinary arts, cosmetology, and general business or information technology programs.
4. Continuing students must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.7 based
on the most recent academic record available.
5. First-year students may submit high school academic records in lieu of a college GPA.
Application Requirements
Each applicant must submit the following as part of a complete application:
(a) A completed Foundation scholarship application form;
(b) Proof of enrollment or acceptance into an eligible technical college program;
(c) A course or program description sufficient to demonstrate eligibility under this section;
(d) An essay describing the applicant’s educational objectives, career goals, and interest in the real estate profession or related field. The essay must be the applicant’s original work, written solely by the applicant, and shall be not less than five hundred (500) words and not more than six hundred (600) words in length. The use of artificial intelligence tools, automated writing tools, text generators, or similar technologies to generate, draft, revise, enhance, or substantially edit the essay is strictly prohibited.
(e) A current resume; and
(f) Two (2) letters of recommendation, which shall be required. One (1) letter must be from a professional or academic reference, such as a professor, teacher, instructor, counselor, or other educational professional familiar with the applicant’s academic performance or educational pursuits, and one (1) letter must be from a personal reference familiar with the applicant’s character, and qualifications. Each letter of recommendation must include the name, title (if applicable), email address, telephone number, and original signature of the individual providing the recommendation.
