2026 Winter Storm Advisory

Updated Friday, January 30, 2026
Governor Brian P. Kemp declared a statewide State of Emergency today ahead of this weekend’s winter storm. This is a separate executive order from the one issued on January 22 ahead of Winter Storm Fern. Governor Kemp also directed the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency (GEMA/HS) to activate the State Operations Center (SOC), beginning at noon today. The current State of Emergency will run through February 6. Please stay safe and be vigilant with plans and supplies in the chance that you experience an extended loss of power. GAR Purchase & Sale Agreement Emergency Language

Members using the updated 2026 GAR Forms are reminded to note the language included in the 2026 Purchase and Sale Agreement regarding emergencies. The updated language is as follows:

“Delays Caused by Emergencies: If at any point after the Binding Agreement date the Governor of Georgia declares a state of emergency for the county in which the Property is located, all unexpired time deadlines herein, including but not limited to the Closing Date, shall automatically extend for the number of days the emergency exists in that county, but not more than eight (8) days. Nothing herein shall prevent the parties by mutual agreement from proceeding forward without extending such deadlines. No deadline shall be extended if this Agreement becomes a binding agreement during a state of emergency.”
