The Georgia Association of REALTORS® is committed to fostering an inclusive, equitable, and welcoming real estate community. Below are resources, tools, and learning opportunities to help members put IDEA into action in their businesses and communities

Community & Engagement

  • Georgia REALTORS® IDEA Committee – The IDEA Committee was created to promote inclusivity, diversity, equality, and action within the real estate industry. The committee develops initiatives, resources, and events that foster equitable business practices and strengthen member engagement across Georgia.

 

Education & Training

NAR Fairhaven 2.0 – An interactive simulation to help REALTORS® identify, prevent, and address discriminatory practices. Free to all members and fulfills the new NAR fair housing training requirement.

At Home With Diversity® (AHWD) – The At Home With Diversity certification teaches REALTORS® how to conduct their business with sensitivity to all client profiles and build a business plan to successfully serve them.

Snapshot of Race and Home Buying in America (NAR) – Read NAR’s report on homeownership trends, the mortgage market and affordability by race, and home buyer demographics from the 2024 Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers, with a focus on fair housing.

Government Resources

HUD Program Resources – The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) offers programs such as down payment assistance, affordable housing initiatives, rental support, and fair housing guidance, helping REALTORS® connect clients with financial aid and secure safe and affordable housing.

Georgia Commission on Equal Opportunity – Enforces the Georgia Fair Housing Law and the Georgia Fair Employment Practices Act to protect residents from housing and workplace discrimination, ensuring equal opportunity across the state.

Support & Reporting

Report Fair Housing Violations – HUD – If you believe your housing rights have been violated, you can file a report with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Housing rights violations can occur in many forms, including but not limited to, discrimination in buying or renting a home, receiving a mortgage, and seeking housing assistance.

Report Fair Housing Violations – Georgia – You can also file a fair housing complaint to the Georgia Commission on Equal Opportunity if you believe your housing rights have been violated.

Multicultural & Affinity Organizations

National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals (NAHREP) – NAHREP is advancing Hispanic homeownership through education, advocacy, and networking for real estate professionals serving Hispanic communities.

National Association of Real Estate Brokers (NAREB) – Advocates for Black homeownership and provides resources, education, and community engagement to support minority real estate professionals. Their core objective is to secure the right to equal housing opportunities regardless of race, creed, or color.

The Alliance – Champions LGBTQ+ homeownership and works to create a more inclusive housing market through education, advocacy, and networking. They provide resources and support to LGBTQ+ real estate professionals and allies, aiming to ensure equal access to housing and promote diversity within the industry.

Women’s Council of Realtors (WCR) – Empowers women in real estate through leadership development, networking opportunities, and education to advance their careers and promote diversity in the industry.

Asian Real Estate Association of America (AREAA) – A nonprofit supporting Asian American homeownership through education, advocacy, and networking for real estate professionals serving AAPI communities.

Each of these affinity groups has local chapters across Georgia. We encourage interested parties to reach out to their local chapters directly for more information about joining.
