Hurricane Relief Funds Available for Georgia Residents

October 11, 2024 (ATLANTA) — On September 26, Hurricane Helene swept through Georgia, leaving a devastating trail of destruction in its wake. Heavy rain led to significant flooding, particularly in southern and eastern Georgia and in some spots on metro Atlanta, causing rivers to overflow and leaving many communities submerged. Powerful winds toppled trees onto homes and across roads, cutting power and water access for more than a week in some areas.

As the long process of clean-up and re-building begins, the Georgia REALTORS® is working with the REALTORS® Relief Foundation, a subsidiary of the National Association of REALTORS®, to provide housing-related relief to individuals and households within Georgia that sustained significant damage from Hurricane Helene.

Assistance is available to qualified applicants towards one of the following options:

1) Monthly mortgage expense for the primary residence that was damaged by Hurricane Helene;

2) Rental cost due to displacement from the primary residence resulting from Hurricane Helene or;

3) Hotel reimbursement due to displacement from the primary residence resulting Hurricane Helene.

Relief assistance is limited to a maximum of $1,000 per household.

The application process is now open. Please note that you must be a resident of one of the 91 counties cited by Governor Brian Kemp for public assistance in his disaster declaration letter (see list below).
